Adele Hill is a trade certified upholsterer. She has had over 20 years in the upholstery trade. Adele’s real passion for textiles and customer service saw her pursue being self-employed and starting The Emperors Footstool.
Starting with running her own business in Papamoa, Adele then spent over 6 years working for two prominent Bay of Plenty upholstery businesses, doing her ‘time on the tools’. While at one of the businesses, Adele saw the opportunity to become trade certified, as one of her workmates was doing their training.
Adele received an RCC (recognition of current competency) and passed her ‘Level 4 trade cert in Furniture Restoration and Recovery.’ After having done some years behind the benches, Adele’s real passion for textiles and customer service saw her leave to pursue being self-employed and started The Emperors Footstool.
Adele has an art/design flair and background. Having done such things as making wedding dresses to floristry and signwriting and even graphic design, Adele feels that this has all contributed to the ‘beyond just upholstery’ approach. Adele has a real design flair and an absolute passion for fabrics, colours and décor.
Dean, (Adele’s husband) joined the business in 2013. With his background in light engineering, sales and business accountancy, and Dean quickly picking up the tools, his skills compliment the business greatly.
Dean has been a real asset to the business and a genuine support to Adele in the progress of The Emperors Footstool.
